Hello Everyone, It's such a joy reading the biographies and seeing the amazing pictures sent in! I guess it's my turn. Forty years is such a long time!!! In many ways it seems like its been forever. But then in other ways it doesn't seem long at all. I guess that's because I hold so many fond memories of everyone and still see your faces in my mind. I feel so fortunate growing up with such incredible friends, in a wonderful safe-innocent environment such as Newhall. I wish every child could be so lucky! Life has been good to me. Although sometimes I think, growing old is really a dirty trick. I just don't care for the aches and pains and the wrinkles aren't too becoming. "I don't make a very attractive old person." However, I do enjoy being wiser and much more forgiving. A plus is being a grandmother...its the best! Life has also been full of lessons. Some I've learned quite easily and others I've learned best the hard way. I was married shortly out of high school. Then after 12 years and 2 beautiful children later our marriage failed. Determined not to repeat the same mistakes again. I went in search of 'peace of mind'. I read every self-help book possible and went to gobs of therapy, learning to free my mind from the garbage I seemed to have collected since childhood. After being single for sometime, I married my counselor. A kind, loving man who taught me not to take life so seriously, that life is an adventure and meant to be simple and fun! So, that's how we live our lives. We've been together 24 years now. We love to travel and enjoy doing 'out of the ordinary' things. In May we took an extended vacation to the Amazon Jungle in Peru, where we lived with the Shaman Indians. We were allowed to participate in their ceremonies and study their ways. It is so different from our western society. It was truly a life changing experience!! We live in the mountains of Tehachapi, a mile from our children and four adorable grandchildren. We're a real close family and spend a lot of time together. When we're home, most of the time you'll find me in my flower garden. That's one of the places I find peace of mind. OK, enough about me! Finally, many thanks to our reunion committee and to the ones responsible for setting up this great web site. I'll be checking in often, hopefully to read more biographies and see more pictures. It will be wonderful seeing everyone again! Love and blessings, Ellen
