After leaving Hart High, I spent 2 years of additional schooling. School wasn't working for me or my friend Tim Jorgensen, so we joined the Army on the "buddy" system. What a joke. The only reason we were together in basic training was our last names both started with "J". Tim went to Vietnam and I ended up in Italy. In the service, I worked on electronics and really enjoyed it. I asked for and was granted an early out from the Army to go to College of the Canyons. It was there in one of my first classes that I met my wife Sharon. I asked her to marry me after 6 weeks and we were married 4 months later. That was 34 years ago. I graduated from Cal Poly at San Luis Obispo with an engineering degree and went to work for a company named Tektronix and moved to Beaverton, Oregon. That was 32 years ago. I'm’m currently a senior software engineer directing a small group of engineers doing embedded work for Tektronix's’s Logic Analyzer division. Sharon and I have been raising 4 boys here in Oregon and I wouldn't’t trade it for anywhere else. My oldest is married and they are expecting their first child (our first grandchild) in July. None of my other boys are married though one of them is talking about it. Sharon and I both enjoy the art scene here in Oregon. We also enjoy the coffee and the wine here too. And it really doesn't rain as bad as everyone may think. The Pacific Northwest is a beautiful area. When we moved here, we didn't’t know a soul. We have made many friends through the many organizations that we have been involved with. Sharon's’s 2 sisters moved to the Seattle/Tacoma area in Washington so Sharon has family here. My sister moved here for about 10 years because her husband worked for IBM, so that was nice. But the one thing that I do miss are the friends that I had from High School so I'm’m looking forward to this reunion. I missed the 20th reunion because my youngest (Matt) was due the same weekend but we don't’t have any of that this time (thank God my wife says) so I'm’m really looking forward to the reunion.
